21.1 段落和篇章

　　段落和篇章在長度上有明顯的不同，但是它們在結(jié)構(gòu)上是一致的。首先，段落是由表達其主題思想的主題句(Topic Sentence)或主題導句(Topic Introducer)引出的，而篇章中的首段也是該篇文章主題思想的導言和引言;其次，一個段落必須有若干個展開句使主題思想得以展開和充實，同樣篇章的主體部分也是由幾個推展或后續(xù)首段主題思想的段落組成。再者，在段落結(jié)束時有一個結(jié)尾句(Concluding Sentence)總結(jié)段落的主旨，篇章也同樣有一個對上下文進行歸納和總結(jié)主題思想的末段。盡管不是所有的段落和篇章都具備這樣的完整結(jié)構(gòu)，但典型的段落和篇章在結(jié)構(gòu)上是一致的。

　　根據(jù)上述，讓我們比較一下Model Paragraph 21-1和Model Essay 21-2，后者的主題思想完全基于前者。所不同的是，Model Paragraph中的六個句子①，②，③，④，⑤，⑥均已被擴展成Model Essay中的六個段落。

　　Model Paragraph 21-1
