10. at last ，at length ，finally ，in the end ，lastly 這幾個表達(dá)，中文意思都可說成 最后、終于 但用法有所不同。

　　at last 經(jīng)常表示歷經(jīng)曲折、磨難之后，往往有較濃重的感情色彩，如不耐煩、如愿等等：He has finished his speech at last. 他總算講完了。Man has reached the moon at last.人類終于登上了月球。

　　At length強(qiáng)調(diào)時間的拖延，表示經(jīng)過了好長的時間：After a long journey they arrived at length in Naples.他們經(jīng)長途旅行后才終于到了那不勒斯。

　　finally 著重動作發(fā)生的先后順序，不帶感情色彩：They talked about it for hours, finally , they decided not to go. 他們談了好幾個小時，最后決定不去。

　　in the end 跟finally 相當(dāng)，通常表示動作的先后次序：He tried many ways of earning a living, in the end, he became a farm worker. 他嘗試過許多謀生方式，最后做了農(nóng)場工人。但in the end 還有它自己特有的用法，就是用于將來的情況，這時，其他的表達(dá)都不能用：The communism will outlive the capitalim in the end. 共產(chǎn)主義必將勝利，資本主義必將滅亡。 前面這些表達(dá)都是結(jié)果、結(jié)局、結(jié)論。lastly則完全不同，它是個序數(shù)詞性質(zhì)的表達(dá)，表示最后提到的一項內(nèi)容：Lastly ，let me mention the great support 1ve had from my wife. 最后，我要提一下從妻子那里得到的極大支持。
