A couple of weeks ago, a few friends and I had an opportunity to attend a dear friend's wedding in New York. After the wedding and reception, rather accidentally four of us gathered in a hotel room and began to explore the deeper meaning of life and death. What does it mean to live truly? If we are all getting closer to death, is all the material accumulation worth it? It is not exactly the type of conversations one has at a

  wedding.

While the answers varied from person to person, I was left with more questions than answers and a feeling of gratefulness to be surrounded by friends who were asking the “right” questions. As the clock kept ticking past 3 am, one of the roommates suggested we watch a short film titled “Last Days of Zach Sobiech”. The premise of the film is about a teenager's journey through the last days of his terminal illness. The film brought up a lot of mixed emotions but one quote that stood out for me was Zach's simple explanation of happiness, “What makes one happy is seeing someone else smile because you put it there.” By 4 am, there was this energy

in the room that had to be shared!

With a few packages of post-it notes and sharpies, we hit the halls of the hotel. We decided to leave short inspirational words on guests' doors, so when they open their doors few hours later a smile would turn up.

We ended up tagging all the doors until we ran out of post-it notes. The note on the door of the newly-weds properly said, “Where there is love, there is life.”

1.About exploring “the deeper meaning of life and death” at a wedding the author thinks ________.

  A.it is interesting

  B.it is instructive

  C.it is not proper

  D.it is rather meaningful

2.After watching the film, what impressed the author most?

  A.Zach's struggle with illness.

  B.Zach's simple explanation of happiness.

  C.Zach's poor fate.

  D.Zach's mixed emotions.

3.What did the author and his friends do after they saw the film?

A.They made a smile card for all the doors of the hotel.

B.They thanked the wedding couple gratefully for invitation.

C.They shared happiness with the workers of the hotel.

D.They knocked door-to-door to offer help in the hotel.

4.What can we learn from the author and his friends' action?

A.Two heads are better than one.

B.A friend in need is a friend indeed.

  C.Good is rewarded with good.

  3.解析:選C 此處與后文的“It enjoyed the sunshine.” 4.解析:選B 此處與下文中的“talk to the worms”呼應(yīng),應(yīng)選B,表示和小蟲聊天。5.解析:選D 下文說“l(fā)eft them all by the side of the road”,由此可見,圓形找到的這些不同的小塊都不合適,故用none“沒有一個(gè)”,表示全部否定。6. 9.解析:選B 這里用too ... to結(jié)構(gòu)表示“太…… 12.解析:選C 這里用短語in a/some sense表示“從某種意義上說”。13. 20.解析:選A 此空與前面的“not”呼應(yīng),選A,not ... but ... 根據(jù)第一段最后一句“It is not exactly the type of conversations one has at a wedding.”

根據(jù)第二段第四句中的“but one quote that stood out for me was Zach's simple explanation of happiness”可知,這部電影給作者留下的最深刻印象是Zach對幸福的簡單解釋。故選B。3. 根據(jù)第二段的倒數(shù)第一句和倒數(shù)第二句“With a few packages of post-it notes and sharpies, we hit the

halls of the hotel. We decided to leave short inspirational words on guests' doors, so when they open their doors few hours later a smile would turn up.”可知選A。4. 通讀全文,尤其是由第二段第四句中的“What makes one happy is seeing someone else smile because you put it there.”可知選D。
